November 1919 Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. founded. The inaugural general meeting was held in Tokyo's Kyobashi Ward, presided over by President Yasuomi Ogura with a capital of ¥100,000. Chartered transport operations were launched at the same location using four trucks.
April 1923 Merchandise transport agreement signed with the retailer Mitsukoshi, Ltd.
June 1929 Start of Japan's first route operations with the first full-scale regular delivery route between Tokyo and Yokohama.
March 1950 Forwarding operations launched in Shiodome, Tokyo. Similar operations started at Tokyo's Akihabara and Iidamachi train stations in April the same year.
January 1951 Start of airline freight and passenger transport after concluding an agency agreement with C.A.T Airlines.
March 1955 Agency agreement concluded with prominent domestic and overseas airlines following certification as a freight handling agent by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
June 1957 Creation and usage of the Company's trademark "cat and kitten" logo.
May 1958 Launch of artwork packing and transport operations. Initial service orders included pieces for exhibition of cultural treasures of the Inca Empire and the works of Van Gogh.

January 1973 Computer division spun off as Yamato System Development Co., Ltd.
February 1974 Launch of NEKO Total System, an online system for freight transport.
September 1975 Development and launch of Van Pack System for long-term storage of family heirlooms and other valuables.
January 1976 Start of the Takkyubin express door-to-door delivery service for small parcels in Japan's Kanto region. A total of two parcels were transported on January 20, the first day of the service. In May the same year, Takkyubin was successively extended to all major cities in Japan.
March 1979 Takkyubin volume for the Company's 114th business term reaches 10 million parcels.

December 1983 Ski Takkyubin service launched.

November 1986 Collect Service launched.
February 1987 UPS Takkyubin started.
May 1987 Introduction of the route transit information system using a single nationwide frequency.
May 1987 Book Service, a book delivery service, launched.
July 1988 Cool Takkyubin service launched nationwide.
September 1988 Start of the Yamato the Sea Mail service.
November 1988 Takkyubin began offering four delivery size options (60cm, 80cm, 100cm, and 120cm).
November 1988 Debut of the Night Time Delivery service.
November 1989 Airport Takkyubin service for Narita Airport launched.

June 1991 Acquisition of certain business rights from Fukui Yuso Co., Ltd. enabled establishment of a nationwide network for Yamato Transport.
February 1992 Start of Takkyubin Time Service.
March 1992 Inauguration of Kuroneko Cup, a nationwide dodgeball tournament for elementary school students.
March 1993 Takkyubin volume for the Company's 129th business term exceeded 500 million parcels.
April 1993 Operation of the fourth-generation NEKO system began.
September 1993 Inauguration of the Yamato Welfare Foundation.
December 1993 Monthly Takkyubin volume reached 100 million parcels.
May 1994 Complete Moving Economy Service launched.
July 1994 140cm and 160cm sizes added to the Takkyubin service, along with a low-cost service for bulk orders.
April 1995 Adoption of the Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. Precepts, comprising the Company Motto, Management Philosophy, Corporate Posture Priorities, and the Employee Code of Conduct.
July 1995 Start of Complete Overseas Moving Services and Unaccompanied Baggage Service.
September 1995 Launch of the Security Package service.
December 1995 Cumulative number of parcels shipped since the launch of the Takkyubin service tops 5 billion.
March 1996 New Pickup and Storage Service launched.
August 1996 Takkyubin service area expanded to include the Izu Islands of Toshima, Niijima, Shikinejima, Kozushima, Miyakejima, Mikurajima, and Aogashima.
December 1996 Start of around-the-clock operation.
March 1997 Launch of the Kuroneko Mail service.
June 1997 Introduction of quality bathroom tissues as the first product in Yamato Transport's original "Tokusen Shijo" merchandise brand.
November 1997 Completion of plans for a nationwide Takkyubin network with the start of service to the Ogasawara Islands of Chichishima and Hahashima.
November 1997 Kuroneko Quick Maintenance Service launched.
November 1997 Moving Forwarding Service launched.
February 1998 Start of package-tracking service via the Yamato Transport homepage.

November 1998 Sales of Tateyama Natural Spring Water launched as the second product in the "Tokusen Shijo" lineup.
May 1999 Half-Day Moving Service launched.
June 1999 Launch of sales of Double Soft bathroom tissues, a new product in the "Tokusen Shijo" lineup.
October 1999 Operation of the fifth-generation NEKO system began, accompanied by the adoption of new portable POS terminals.
October 1999 Unveiling of a new in-transit tracking data system utilizing data between service locations and bases.
October 1999 Beginning of entry of data upon completion of Kuroneko Mail delivery.
November 1999 Start of mobile phone-based package-tracking service.

August 2001 Kuroneko@Payment Credit Card Service began, enabling customers to prepay for services by credit card.
December 2001 Launch of Home Reform Moving Pack targeting customers rebuilding and remodeling their homes.
February 2002 Start of Takkyubin Mail Notification Service, whereby Takkyubin delivery times and dates are notified by e-mail to the addressees, who can change and specify the delivery schedule.
July 2002 Start of PC Takkyubin, a service using special materials to quickly wrap PCs for shipment.
April 2003 Kuroneko Mail revamped with two new sizes—50g and under and 100g and under—added. Next-day delivery service was expanded nationwide.
April 2003 Inauguration of Takkyubin Area Service Center, an organizational reform for improving business efficiency and enhancing customer service.
May 2003 Debut of "i-CATs Invoice B2" online software enabling customers to easily print shipping invoices using their own PC and printer.
November 2003 Launch of the Super-Speed Takkyubin service between Hokkaido and all areas of the Kanto region through the use of late-night flights.
March 2004 Start of Collect Service for Izu and Ogasawara Islands, extending the service area nationwide.
March 2004 Application of terms and conditions for simplifying the use of Kuroneko Mail, including a cash settlement option.
