Precepts
Yamato Transport's "Precepts," which were laid down in 1931, contained a variety of very important lessons that deserve to be valued even today and in the years ahead. These Precepts should remain the bedrock of the Yamato Group, embodying the spirit that inspired its foundation, and in this way we should carry forward the strong spirit and determination of all of our predecessors.
I am the spirit of Yamato
The act of transporting something for someone should be regarded as an extension of that person's will
Be steady in thought, and set a high value on courtesy
The Basic Spirit of the Precepts
I am the spirit of Yamato
More than money or property, the Yamato Group regards people as being its biggest asset. Employees are regarded not simply as "human resources" but as the Group's "human assets," reflecting the utmost priority that the Group gives to respect for people. The spirit of harmony in every employee, expressed through cooperation, unity and accord, generates Yamato's power as a corporate group. This phrase that employees should have the attitude that "I am Yamato" shows the Yamato Group spirit of having everyone involved in Group management.
The act of transporting something for someone should be regarded as an extension of that person's will
Through its transportation services, one of the business objectives of the Yamato Group is to take temporary charge of a portion of the will and intent of the customer and, in a responsible and sincere manner, convey and deliver it swiftly and accurately. This phrase expresses how important it is for every single Yamato Group employee to have the interest and the enthusiasm to always ask themselves "What can we do to make our customers even more satisfied?"
Be steady in thought, and set a high value on courtesy
Given that the service that the Yamato Group engages in is indispensable to daily life and has a highly public-service character, a question that every Group employee must always keep in mind is "How can we be of service to society and to people's lives?" To do that, we set a high value on courtesy (showing politeness and moderation in the way we act), and we practice compliance (abiding by laws and ordinances, corporate ethical standards, etc.) as a responsible member of society.
